Domingo Muzietti
Guitarist, Composer, Arranger, Author.
Domingo was born in January 29, 1974. Deeply in love with music, since his youth, he started studying different instruments, until his passion found completion in the study of the guitar.
Attracted by jazz phrasing and harmony, he graduated with honors (110 e lode) in Jazz Guitar at the Gaetano Braga Conservatory in Teramo (Italy), specializing in Jazz and Contemporary music: improvisation, technique, harmony and theory, rhythmic, chord melody, be bop playing, wide intervals, etc.
All this, gave him the possibility of joining improvement Master Classes with the best musicians of the musical world scene, including:
Joe Diorio (S. Getz, R. Ford, P. Metheny.), Bireli Lagrene (J. Pastorius, M. Petrucciani), Scott Henderson (C. Corea, J. Zawinul.), Tuck Andress (Tuck & Patty), Gene Bertoncini (W. Shorter, E. Fitzgerald), Paul Bollenback (J. De Francesco, A. Sandoval, Grammy Award ’98), John Stowell (R. Towner, H. During these Master Classes, he played with most of the above artists, getting favorable evaluations from both a musical and didactic profile. He participated in the summer Umbria Jazz Clinics with the Berklee School of Boston's teachers.
Since 1994, he has been playing with several groups, in many situations in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, playing jazz, jazz-funk, bossa-nova and jazz-pop music, getting confirmation in many national's events.
As guitar player, composer and arranger, he has grown a recording studio's knowledge. In 2006 he recorded his first CD (Domingo Muzietti Project - Introducing - Wide Sound), with own compositions and distinguished guests, in 2017 a new recording has been released with Massimo Manzi Trio, special guest Echae Kang (Excursion - Notami label), in 2020 with Teo Ciavarella, Massimo Manzi, Massimo Giovannini, and the Turkish singer Elif Çağlar (Come Me Come Te - Notami label). Moreover for a long time, Domingo has been performing with a lot of remarkable musicians such as: Bireli Lagrene, Martin Taylor, Barbara Dennerlein, Andreas Oberg, Fabrizio Bosso, Simona Molinari, Massimo Manzi, Stochelo Rosenberg, Massimo Moriconi, Jenny B, Vito Di Modugno, Sinne Eeg, Barbara Casini, Gadi Lehavi, Maurizio Giammarco, Echae Kang, Walter Ricci, Lynn Adib, Iskra Menarini, Elif Çağlar, Angelo Debarre, Teo Ciavarella, Simona Bencini, Viktorija Gečytė, Rossana Casale, Robert Ferrazza, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Scott Hamilton, Luca Bulgarelli, Joyce E. Yuille, Franco Cerri, Max Ionata, Angelo Canelli, Awa Ly, Francesco Puglisi, Kelly Joyce, Dino Rubino, Anthony Strong, and others, and he formed a quartet playing his compositions and standards. He is playing in a likely Italian orchestra (Orchestra Contemporanea) wherewith recorded a CD in 2011 (The Other Face Of Gentle Giant).
Since 2006 he is an endorser of Buscarini Guitars, a prestigious Italian luthier that for this occasion, created a dedicated beautiful guitar model (D.M. Model).
He has had extensive experiences in teaching both privately and in public institutions and since 1999, he has been teaching jazz and contemporary music in some musical schools in the center of Italy, and at the E.M.I. in Pescara (Abruzzo), which is one of the most advanced European jazz school. Since 2010 he has been teaching jazz music at the Julia Jazz Summer Stages in Teramo, and Campli Masterclasses, which attract a lot of students from all over Italy.
